Built for real-world sheets
Every sheet
Workbooks keep all sheets. For CSV and JSON you get one file per sheet, or only the first.
Your separator
Choose comma, semicolon or tab for CSV files, depending on where they need to go.
JSON in and out
A JSON list of objects becomes a table, with the keys as column headers.
What happens to workbooks with several sheets?
XLSX, XLS and ODS keep every sheet. CSV and JSON hold one table each, so you get one file per sheet in a ZIP, or only the first sheet if you choose that under Options.
Are formulas and formatting kept?
Formulas are kept when converting between XLSX and ODS. XLS, CSV and JSON files get the calculated values. Cell styling such as colors and fonts is not kept.
Which CSV separator should I use?
Comma is the standard. Excel in many European countries expects semicolons, so choose Semicolon if your columns end up in one cell. Tab works well for pasting into other tools.
How is JSON turned into a spreadsheet?
Use a JSON list of objects, such as [{"name": "Ada", "year": 1843}]. Each object becomes a row and the keys become column headers. Nested values are written as JSON text.
